Formerly known as Carbon, Helium Backup is an app that helps you easily back up all the videos, pictures, emails, notes, etc. on your Android device.
The user interface is simple and self-explanatory. The two-tab interface also makes it easy to back up data to the cloud so that data can be restored on multiple devices that have the app installed. You can even restore files straight to another device. There is no root required, but if you’ve rooted your device, it should still be fine. You should be able to back up (for free) 80 to 90 percent of the content on your device. During backup, you have the choice to select and deselect certain files. There is also the option to back up completely (APK files) or just the app data.
Compatibility and Availability
Helium Backup is available across a wide range of devices and platforms. The app can be downloaded on Chrome (recommended), Windows, Linux and Mac. The app’s APK files can also be separately downloaded. It may not work on certain Android devices for the lack of support from the phone OEM or if a particular Android device has a bug. As aforementioned, Helium Backup works across devices, even if the devices are not sharing a network. You can schedule your backups with Helium and not worry about losing data again. The Chrome app can be used to start the backup on your Android device.
